The short version
Points are for walking you really did.
Every walk is checked. Faking location or steps, or earning from a vehicle, can cost you your points and your account.
Points have no cash value.
You spend them on rewards that sponsors fund and provide. Each reward carries its sponsor’s own terms.

If you are 13 to 17, you need a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
Walk safely.
Watch the road, respect private property, and take Qatar’s heat seriously. Emshi is not medical advice.
Section 1
About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Emshi (“Emshi”, “we”, “us”). They cover the Emshi app and this website.
By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Emshi.
Our privacy policy explains what data Emshi collects, why, and what you can do about it. Please read it too.
Section 2
Who can use Emshi
- You must be at least 13 years old.
- If you are 13 to 17, you need permission from a parent or legal guardian to use Emshi. They should read these terms and the privacy policy with you. By letting you use Emshi, they accept these terms on your behalf and are responsible for your use of it.
- One account per person. An account is personal: don’t share it, sell it or transfer it.
- Some rewards have their own age limits set by the sponsor offering them — a gym pass, for example. The reward says so when it does.
Section 3
Your account
- You can sign in with Google, or with an email address and password. Use an email address you control and a display name that is yours to use.
- Keep your sign-in details safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else has access to it, tell us straight away at [email protected].
- You can sign out, or delete your account, at any time. See Delete your account.
Section 4
How earning works
- Emshi pays points for walking, counted by your phone’s own step counter — currently about ten steps to a point.
- Inside a sponsor’s booster zone, your steps earn at the multiplier the zone shows, such as 2× or 3×, until you leave it.
- A walk you record with Track walk counts in full. Steps you take without tracked location still earn, at a lower rate and up to a daily cap.
- Every walk is checked. Distance only counts where the GPS and the step counter agree. Earning pauses while your phone reports that you are in a vehicle or on a bicycle, or while another app is recording a bike ride. A walk that fails these checks may earn fewer points, or none.
- Walks recorded without a connection wait on your phone and upload when you are back online. A walk that has not uploaded yet — because the app was uninstalled first, for example — cannot be credited.
- Earning rates, multipliers, caps, the daily streak target and booster zones can change. The app always shows the current ones.
Section 5
Points
- Points are a reward for walking inside Emshi. They have no cash value, are not money or property, and cannot be sold, transferred to another person or exchanged for cash.
- We may correct your balance if points were added by mistake, through a technical error, or for a walk that later fails our checks.
- Points don’t expire today. If we ever introduce expiry, we will tell you at least 30 days before any of your points expire.
- Unspent points end when your account is deleted or closed.
- If we ever stop running Emshi, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice so you can spend your points, wherever we reasonably can.
Section 6
Rewards and vouchers
- Rewards are offered and funded by sponsors. Which rewards are available, how many there are and what they cost in points can change at any time, and a reward can run out.
- Some rewards need a particular rank. Your rank is based on your lifetime points, so spending points never lowers it.
- Each reward shows its sponsor’s own terms, such as where it can be used and until when. Those terms apply when you use it.
- What a voucher is. When you redeem a reward, its cost comes off your balance and our server issues you a code. That code entitles you to the one thing the reward describes — a coffee, a class, a discount — from the sponsor who funded it, once. It is not money, not credit, and not exchangeable for anything else.
- How long it lasts. Until the date the sponsor’s own terms give, shown on the reward before you redeem it and on the voucher afterwards. Where a reward names no date, the voucher does not expire while Emshi is running; if we stop running Emshi, the 30 days’ notice in section 5 is your window to use it.
- A redemption is final. If a sponsor can’t honour a valid voucher, contact us and we will restore the points or find a fair alternative.
- The sponsor provides the product or service and is responsible for it. Vouchers have no cash value and can’t be resold.
- We may cancel a voucher that was obtained through fraud, by breaking these terms, or through an obvious error.
Section 7
Fair play
Rewards cost sponsors real money, and what they pay for is real people walking into their zones. So you must not:
- fake your location, with mock-location apps, GPS spoofers, emulators or anything similar;
- fake steps, by shaking the phone, using a device that moves it, or anything else that makes the step counter count movement that isn’t you walking;
- earn while driving, riding, cycling or being carried, or give your phone to someone or something else to walk with;
- use a modified version of the app, automate it, or interfere with how it or our servers work;
- create or use more than one account, or use someone else’s;
- exploit a bug to earn or redeem points. Please report it to us instead.
If we reasonably believe an account has broken these rules, we may reject or flag its walks, remove points earned that way, cancel vouchers, and suspend or close the account. If you think we got it wrong, write to us and we will look at it again.
Section 8
Walking safely, and your health
- Pay attention to where you are going. Watch for traffic, follow traffic laws, and don’t look at your phone while crossing a road. Never use Emshi while driving.
- Only go where you are allowed to be. A booster zone doesn’t give you a right to enter private property, and it says nothing about whether a place is open or safe.
- Qatar’s heat is dangerous. Drink water, avoid walking outdoors in the middle of the day in summer, and stop if you feel unwell. Walking indoors — in a mall, for example — counts too.
- Emshi is not a medical device and doesn’t give medical advice. Steps, distances, calories and heart-rate figures are for your information only. If you have a health condition, talk to a doctor before starting a new exercise routine.
- You walk at your own risk. Nothing in Emshi is a reason to walk anywhere, or at any time, you wouldn’t otherwise consider safe.
Section 9
Community
Your display name, and anything you post or react with, can be seen by other walkers. Keep it respectful: no harassment, hate, threats, sexual content, impersonation, spam or anything illegal. We may remove content, or change a display name, that breaks this, and serious or repeated breaches can close an account.
The leaderboard that shows you to walkers near you is off unless you turn it on.
Section 10
Sponsors and booster zones
Sponsors are independent businesses. A booster zone or a reward doesn’t mean a sponsor endorses you, and we aren’t responsible for a sponsor’s premises, products, services or conduct. Zones can move, change their multiplier or end at any time.
Section 11
The app and your licence to use it
- We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Emshi on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, under these terms and Google Play’s terms.
- Emshi — the app, its design, its name and logo, and its content — belongs to us or the people we license it from. You may not copy, modify, sell or distribute it, or try to extract its source code, except where the law allows you to.
- Emshi relies on services we don’t run, such as Google Play services, Health Connect and OpenFreeMap’s map tiles. Their own terms apply to them.
Section 12
Changes and availability
We are a small team and Emshi is still growing. We may add, change or remove features, and the app or our servers may sometimes be unavailable. Emshi is provided “as is” and “as available”: as far as the law allows, we don’t promise that it will be uninterrupted or free of errors, or that every walk will be recorded and credited.
Section 13
Our responsibility to you
- As far as the laws of Qatar allow, we are not responsible for: losses that weren’t reasonably foreseeable; points, rewards or streaks lost to outages, errors, lost connections or your device; anything a sponsor does or fails to do; or injury or loss that happens while you walk, unless our negligence caused it.
- As far as the law allows, our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and QAR 100.
- Nothing in these terms limits a responsibility that the law doesn’t allow to be limited, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Section 14
Closing your account
- You can stop using Emshi and delete your account whenever you like — from Settings in the app, or by email. Delete your account says what is deleted and what is kept.
- We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we stop running Emshi. Unless we aren’t allowed to, or telling you would help someone commit fraud, we will tell you why.
- When an account closes, its unspent points end. Vouchers already redeemed stay subject to the sponsor’s terms, unless they were cancelled under section 7.
Section 15
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Emshi changes. The date at the top says when they last changed. If a change matters to you, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Emshi after that, you accept the new terms; if you don’t want to, you can delete your account.
Section 16
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Qatar, and the courts of Qatar have jurisdiction over any dispute about them. If you live somewhere else, you keep any protection the law where you live gives you that an agreement can’t take away.
